Wifflefest 20 - Still going strong

 The Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 20 is now open and accepting registrations for our great event. This year, the event will be held on October 18, 2025, starting at 9:30 am. Teams will compete in a pool play into a (2) single elimination brackets on four custom designed wiffleball fields. This year's event will take place at Fruitland Community Church.

Registration will be limited to the first 24 teams to sign up for wifflefest, with the minimum five players per team (2 girl minimum). Teams can have more than 5 players, rotating pitchers each inning and using a continuous batting order.

This year, as in past years, Wifflefest will be benefiting the Care Portal of SEMO. Attendees have an awesome opportunity to bless a local organization. Cash, check and online donations will be taken during the tournament. 

There is no cost to enter a team at Wifflefest. Participants can look forward to bounce houses, food, drink, announcers, theme music, hay rides, all in a fun and safe family atmosphere.

Wifflefest 15 Recap

To say that Wifflefest 15 will be memorable is an unstatement. Anything that could happen, did this year at the tournament, which drew a record 18 teams to participate. Let's dig deeper into some details. First, the Semo Sasquatch have done it again, winning their 4th Wifflefest championship. This year felt a little different, as their team was missing a few players. They played the entire tournament with only 5 people, but once they had a chance to hit, they pounded opposition pitchers and were never really challenged in any of their games. It was an impressive display, and could be their best accomplishment to date. Second, Wifflefest 15 took place in the year 2020, so one should expect that something crazy was bound to happen, and happen it did. One the day of the event Wifflefest had a girl bitten by a dog, a car wreck at the entrance, a firework display shooting at people, slow internet which made for mounting frustration. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, and smiles were worn throughout the night as wonderful day came to a close. Third, a big congratulations also goes out to our Sliver Bracket Champion the Sasquatch Hunters, who played very well in the first ever Wifflefest experience.

Fourth, sometimes it’s hard to explain Wifflefest to people who have never been. Next time someone asks you, share this story: Troy Sikes was playing in a Wifflefest 15 pool play game on the Pond field for his KICKS wiffleball team. His team was having fun, but they were on the wrong end of a 15-0 score late in the game. While playing left field, another opposing team smash sailed over his head towards the pond which lays just beyond the fence. Troy turns, runs full speed through the plastic fence, dives into the muddy water, risking life and limp in hopes to make a miraculous catch and salvage a much needed out. Sadly the catch wasn’t meant to be. The result though was that his ❤️ and effort will be talked about for years! That is what it takes to play at Wifflefest! With that we would like to welcome Troy to the Wifflefest Hall of Fame. Finally, as we move to future Wifflefests, we love to dream and imagine how this event can get better for all involved. Going forward, we are beginnging to think about a 5th field being added. We would also like to offer a newly designed t-shirt/hoddie for next year. Possibly one or two food trucks. Perhaps we could add live music and/or more fireworks (which hopefully don't injure people) to the end of the evening. Most importantly, we just want to continue to show love and support to our family, friends, and neighbors in the community and continue to use wiffleball as a way to unite people in a day of fun for all.

Semo Sasquatch claim Wifflefest 14 crown

As the sun began to set and the championship game began to start, a familiar team found its way once again into the final. Two time Wifflefest champions the Semo Sasquatch pounded their way into the final after a successful 3-1 record during pool play. The Sasquatch found just enough offense and had the usual stellar defense to eek out a 3-2 win in the final over the Millenial Mashers. The win gives the Squatch their 3rd Wifflefest championship, which is the most by any team to play in the 14 year history of the event. 

 

16 or 17 Teams to compete for Wifflefest 14 Championships

Cross your fingers all you Wifflefest competitors, you will need all the luck you can get. Seventeen, no wait sixteen, teams are confirmed to participate in the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 14. We had one team unable to secure a fifth player after registering and so they are now combining with another team.

Pregame ceremonies will begin at 9:00 am at Fruitland Community Church with first pitch slated to be thrown out at 9:30 am sharp. With an even number of teams, this year's tournament format has been adjusted to ensure an equal playing field and an abundant opportunity to play more games.

Each team will be guaranteed to play five games this year, with four of those games coming in a pool play format. After pool play, each team will be seeded according to how they performed (win/loss, runs allowed) into two single elimination brackets. There will be a Gold Championship Bracket and a Silver Consolation Bracket. Winners of both brackets will receive the traditional golden or silver wiffleball necklaces, respectively.

The championship games are slated to begin at 6:15 on the Church Field, under the lights.

Countdown to Wifflefest - We are buying some balls

It is really hard to have a wiffleball game, even harder to have a Wifflefest without the appropriate quantity of balls on hand. Today, I am ordering 48 official wiffle balls from the Connecticut Store. The Connecticut Store is the official marketplace for all things wiffle.... bats, books, apparel, and balls.

Our family was able to the store last summer, on a trip to the east coast. Due to a three hour traffic jam in Rhode Island, we made it to the store after closing. We were able to peer into the windows to see the wiffleball making machine as well as a 1/2 complete crossword puzzle. Needless to say, it was the highlight of our trip.

The order will be placed in about an hour, and then the wiffle balls will be hand packaged into original wiffle ball boxes. After each ball is packaged individually, they will then be combined into a much larger brown box and shipped to my location. We will then keep them in a humidified chamber to preserve their perfection until Wifflefest, ensuring that each ball will be perfectly perfect in every way.
Like a newborn babe snatched from a mother's womb, so also the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest's wiffleballs will be handled for the first time, without blemish, at Wifflefest. Past rumors of Justin Osborne actually creating his own wiffleballs with 'magic' are not completely true. This year we will have a pretend ball detector in place for each participant to pass through upon entering the Wifflefest grounds, ensuring that no off-branded ball makes it anywhere close to a field. Wifflefest is a gun free/drug free/fake wiffleball free zone. We have ordered 50 wiffleballs for this year's event.

Participants of the tournament will compete on homemade wiffleball fields, complete with announcers, scoreboards, and batting theme music. Wifflefest will be limited to the first 24 teams to sign up.



Spectators will be able to participate in a wide variety of activities beyond the wiffleball, such as free food and drink, bounce houses, hay rides, fishing, paddle boats, etc; all in a family friendly atmosphere.

There is no cost to participate, as donations are accepted on behalf of a local charity.

Wifflefest 12 Video Recap

Do you ever wonder what you are missing when you don't attend Wifflefest? What is all the fuss and excitement about? Here is a recap video filmed by the Naturals, who had quite the tournament this year.

Congratulations to Wifflefest 12 Champions: Fast and Furious! They completed the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record by defeating the Naturals 8-5 in the final. May the golden Wiffleball necklace shine bright for them.

Congratulations also to Rushing Mariners for winning the first ever Wifflefest consolation bracket. They were awarded Silver Wiffleballs for their efforts.

Through the Wifflefest tournament, we were able to raise $1000 for the Hope Children's Home in Jackson, MO. To date we have raised over $10,000 for charities for children in need.

30 days until Wifflefest

With only 30 days until Wifflefest 12 the excitement level has been picking up around the Osborne house. Swings are being taken, Pitches are starting to break. Rust is being knocked off. The power wheels that drive the Wifflefest machine are starting to churn once again.
This is old hat to veterans of the great wiffleball tournament, however, newcomers to Wifflefest this year may be wondering what they are getting into. To help give you a sneak peak into what you can expect when you are not dominating the wiffleball fields, we have created a list of must do activities for the big day.

1. Take a walk. Did you know that walking is like one of the best things you can do for exercise besides play wiffleball? Apparently, studies suggest that if you could walk forever, you may also live forever, or close to it. The Martin Tree Farm where Wifflefest is hosted has over 300 acres, most of which have marked trails. Enhance your experience by taking a stroll through one, enjoying the fall foliage.

2. Canoe. The tree farm has a few canoes/paddle boats that attenders can take out for a cruise on the pond. If you get close enough to the wiffleball field, you may catch a home run.

3. Fish. Most people like to fish. I think it is kind of boring.

4. Camp out. The tree farm is a perfect place to camp out on fall evenings. Let us know ahead of time and we can even have a campfire and/or outdoor movie set up for your viewing pleasure.

5. Bounce house. Mostly for the young or young at heart. We will have two bounce houses set up, feel free to watch your own kids jump to their heart’s content or until they are injured.

6. Tree Swings. This should probably be the #1 reason why you should come to Wifflefest, as I go out and swing sometimes just to relax. It is amazing how putting a swing under a bunch of pine trees makes it that much better.

7. Hay Ride. We will have two hay rides at Wifflefest. The first will be in the morning, around 11 am giving people a chance to see a little more of the farm. The second ride will be after our pot luck lunch, probably around 2pm. They ride will last about thirty minutes.

8. Ball Park Snacks. I’m a snacker. I could snack on things all day, rather than sit down and gorge myself on a big meal. We will have snacks available all day long at Wifflefest. Everything from hot dogs, popcorn and nachos, to cotton candy, snow cones and candy bars. Drinks are also provided at no charge! Please just help yourself.

9. Wiffle Golf. Sometimes being bad at wiffleball has its advantage. Like when being bad, lets you have a lot of extra time to play wiffle golf on an 18 hole home made course at the Tree farm. The course is complete with bunkers, greens, and tee boxes carved throughout the woods. Clubs and balls are available in the tree house for use. Tee times are not necessary.

10. The Tree House. If you have a baby or you need to sneak away for some sort of private business, the Tree House is a perfect place to do just that. Complete with three bedrooms and two baths, it is available for anyone to use during the weekend of Wifflefest.
