Cross your fingers all you Wifflefest competitors, you will need all the luck you can get. Thirteen teams are confirmed to participate in the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 6. That total equals the highest amount of teams to date in the six year history of the glorious wiffling event. Some would think that excitment and anticipation would be filling the halls of the Osborne household, with so many teams ready to fight it out. Those thoughts would be wrong. "I would really rather have 12 or 14 teams", says Justin Osborne, founder, creator and provider of awesomeness of Wifflefest. "I mean, it is October and we have 13 teams coming. Kind of spooky", Osborne explains as he makes a ghoolish laugh. While most of the teams have participated in the past, there is a handful of new comers.

First round matchups include, but are not limited to:

KOHLS A-Team vs. The Naturals
(One team is worried about having enough players, the others got their t-shirts on a 90% closeout special)

AV Rocks vs. The Unfortunates
(After a disappoint Wifflefest 5 AV Rocks is out for more excitement, the Unfortunates hope to provide that and more)

Las Tortugas vs. The Carpetbaggers
(the Turtles have been a force the past couple of years and are primed for a deep run, while the Carpetbaggers have a thumb out and want you to scratch their belly...)

Crazy Ninjas vs. Kryptonite
(Crazy Ninjas shirt color = neon green = Krpytonite= close game)

Brown Bombers vs. Philibusters
(Craig Hutson's old team vs. Craig Hutson's new team.... deciding factor will not be Craig Hutson)

Waiting in the wing with first round byes will be past Wifflefest champion Sean's Sluggers, reigning Wifflefest champions the River Monsters, and Wifflefest 5 runner-up the Thundercats.

'To Be Determined' Team Name Symbol

What's in a name? Everything. As the day for the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 6 approaches, there seems to be a decision looming at the Osborne household. What should our wiffleball team name be this year? The first four years of Wifflefest we were named 'Ann Justin for All', a nice play on words with a patriotic theme, very fitting for Wifflefest. Last year we went with a the Wal-mart bargain bin Yoda shirt, and were called the 'Wiffle Masters', which was creative, a nice shirt, and let the kids feel like they got to help with our team name design. After another Saturday with the team at Kohls, we again are facing at a team name change, one that matches our red shirt with white ball, highlighted by a big lightening bolt. One suggestion was 'The Thunderballs', which is very pronounced and has a nice ring to it, but with a team already signed up named 'The Thundercats', we don't want infringe on a copyright.
A name should be something memorable, catchy, and so clever that people will talk about it as they travel home that night... however, you don't want for that to be the only thing people remember about you. It is a very fine tightrope we all must walk. As we mull over our decision, I think back on some of the more clever and not so clever Wifflfest team names:

There are only 5 days left to register for the upcoming Wifflefest 6, which is scheduled for October 1, 2011. Please do not miss your chance to join great organizations like Osborne Office Equipment, KOHLS of Cape Girardeau, Canedy Sign and Graphics and others as we compete in a one day, double elimination wiffleball tournament to raise money for the Pujols Family Foundation. Teams consist of 5 or more players, at least two females.

Wiffleball is played with no running, medium speed pitching, homemade fields, announcers, scoreboards, and entrance music.

You must register to play, but spectators are encouraged to attend and donate.

The Life and Death of Justin Osborne

From the earliest time I can remember, I have been playing wiffleball. My first memories start in my grandma and grandpa Osborne's backyard. The field consisted of thick zoysia grass, a flat infield that sloped down from second base (a short maple tree) to the chain link fence, and a white in-ground drain that served as home plate. I would throw the ball up in the air to pitch to myself, but after dinner, most of my family would come outside and play. It was such a happy time, with grandma, grandpa, my dad, mom, cousins, even aunts and uncles playing. That was our family activity...

From the earliest time I can also remember Matt, my dad's brother (my uncle), was my playmate as a kid. He had down syndrome. Growing up and playing at my grandparents, Matt was always there. His mental ability never grew past an older child's, and so for me, he was the source of a lot of fun growing up. Playing trains, cars, watching the Cubs or Cardinals, going on rides in the evenings was pretty much a weekly routine in our family, along with the wiffleball, of course.

The genesis of our wiffleball tournament and the reasoning behind it is simple: it's what I like to do, what I have lived, and in a way, a tribute to my family and upbringing. At our house wiffleball is a way that everyone can be active and participate, but it is also the way that we relax at night. I love being able to spend time with my family just throwing the ball and watching it get smashed somewhere. I love listening to the kids chase each other around the bases, giggling the entire time. It just feels right.

After the first year of 'Wifflefest', which really was just a cool birthday party turned wiffleball game, we decided to use it for good. We started raising money for the Pujols Family Foundation because we believe that every person is beautifully and wonderfully made, just like Matt. Much like Albert Pujols, who is a follower of Jesus Christ, we are also Christians. As a Christian we believe that our life is not our own, but we are now God's... and we are here to do His work and show others His love. It is no longer Justin Osborne who lives, but really Jesus living through me.... and our whole family.... via our Wifflefest.

Matt passed away when I was in 8th grade, so long ago. I know that others were really so much more involved in his life than I was... but, Wifflefest is my small reminder of him.
As you consider Wifflefest 6 and all the things that it entails, please remember that this, in its basic form, is just what our family is all about, how we relax and have fun, and how we show love to one another. We invite you to come along for the ride.

The Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest is proud to announce that Wifflefest 6 will take place, Saturday, October 1st, 2011... starting at 10 am. We will once again be playing our games at the Martin Tree Farm wiffleball fields, with the event being sponsored by Osborne Office Equipment. Coed teams of 5 or more players (2 girl minimum) are encouraged to participate in this free event, which benefits the Pujols Family Foundation. Participants will enjoy free food and drink all day, announcers for games, theme songs for batting, home made wiffleball fields, play equipment for children, hay rides, all on a beautiful park-like setting. Players and spectators alike are encouraged to donate via silent auction the day of the event. To date, Wifflefest has proudly helped raise over $2000 for the foundation.

Two on, two outs, down by one, in the top half of the last inning. Needless to say the River Monsters were reeling. The Thundercats were in control of the game, and the prospects of a winner take all, championship game, were looking good. Then, something magical happend. Violet Owen, outfielder and second batter for the River Monsters stepped to bat. She promptly lifted a high fly ball to deep right center field, and with a little help from a southeast wind, deposited an opposite field, three run home run over the fence to lift the River Monsters to victory. After the game she was named, MVP (Most Valuable Philipino), and crowned Wifflefest champion. She will also be on a short list of candidates to be nominated for induction into the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest Hall of Fame.

River Monsters Swallow Up Wifflefest Title

The River Monsters posted a 6-4 victory in the championship game of the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest to claim the tournament title over the Thundercats. The River Monsters completed the tournament with a perfect (4-0) record and can now proudly wear golden wiffleballs around their necks... to dislay their accomplishment. They beat out 13 other teams in the one-day double elimination tourament benefitting the Pujols Family Foundation, an organization which is dedicated to raise awareness for children with Down Syndrome.

The Hurricanes, the three time defending champions, will not be present this year, as they would like to give everyone else an opportunity to win. Trent Forester, Hurricane team captain, was spotted pushing a baby stoller while pollishing his three golden wiffleball championships earlier this fall. Apparently, winning isn't everyting. Osborne suggests that teams say there prayers and not dress in costume to avoid fearful encounters on the playing fields. "I don't want any of the teams to get scared, thinking Ol' Scratch may be out to get them or something". With thirteen teams, the competition should be fierce, fun, but could be frightful something Osborne hopes to avoid. "I've already been throwing salt over my shoulder just to be on the safe side."

17 Days to Wifflefest - We're buying some balls

It is really hard to have a wiffleball game, even harder to have a Wifflefest without the appropriate quantity of balls on hand. Today, I am ordering twenty four official wiffle balls from the Connecticut Store. The Connecticut Store is the official marketplace for all things wiffle.... bats, books, apparel, and balls.

Real Wiffle Balls Only

The order will be placed in about an hour, and then the wiffle balls will be hand packaged into original wiffle ball boxes. After each ball is packaged individually, they will then be combined into a much larger brown box and shipped to my location. I will then keep them in a humidified chamber to preserve their perfection until Wifflefest, ensuring that each ball will be perfectly perfect in every way. Like a newborn babe snatched from a mother's womb, so also the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest's wiffleballs will be handled for the first time, without blemish, at Wifflefest. Past rumors of Justin Osborne actually creating his own wiffle balls with 'magic' are not completely true. This year we will have a pretend ball detector in place for each participant to pass through upon entering the Wifflefest grounds, ensuring that no off-branded ball makes it anywhere close to a field. Wifflefest is a gun free/drug free/fake wiffleball free zone.

Over the past four years at Wifflefest we have had some great fun and made some wonderful memories. Wifflefest 5 will be no different. However, I do want something to be different about the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest this year... I want it to be an avenue, a conduit for businesses associated with people who attend attend love Wifflefest to come together. A place and idea that corporations can get behind and feel comfortable as they join in donating to the Pujols Family Foundation. To help accomplish that goal I need your help. Are you associated with a business that supports or donates to charitable organizations? Would you consider being an advocate for the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest as we support the Pujols Family Foundation?

If the answer is yes, here are a few steps you can take:

1. Form a team with your local business to play at Wifflefest
2. Once your team arrives they can donate as individuals or as teams
3. If your workplace is not cool enough to play, they can send the donation directly to the Pujols Family Foundation
4. Perhaps your business would be willing to send a donation with you
5. A copy of the PFF 501c3 status can be found here - for their records

It is hard to imagine how anything as great as the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest becoming even greater. I guess if you were a really good imaginator person, you could, but, the average person's imagination most likely could not grasp such a concept. This year will Wifflefest 5 will have all of the same goodies and favorites that have made the event a huge success in past years. The announcers, free food, theme music while batting, cool wiffleball fields, bounce houses, and swimming in the pond will all be available again. My brother-in-law Grant just had surgery in Columbia, MO--surgery that required him being in the hospital for a few days. The nurse in charge of his care struck conversation up with him one day. Learning that he was from the Cape/Jackson area, she mentioned that her husband went to college down there. Nothing more was said. Nothing more would have been said, until...

A day passes. Grant's mom brings some T-shirts for the post-surgery Grant to wear in his remaining days in the hospital. Among these shirts was a Wifflefest 2009 tee. The aforementioned nurse was helping organizing the clothes, and she happened upon this shirt. She paused, staring long at the shirt, and said, "my husband has this shirt." The nurse's name: Alecia Long.

The common saying "Leaves of three... leave them be", is very practical in nature. It rhymes, it is short and has to do with nature... which is called a double entendre.... (I think), but even if it isn't - it is still a cool saying. I always seem to remember it when I am walking through the different nature trails on the Martin Tree Farm. The tree farm is a sprawling 300 plus acres of pine, hardwoods and other nature things. I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about the outdoors, but what I do know is that there is a lot of poison ivy.... and I am allergic to it. So please, be careful.
We recently went canoeing and I had the misfortune of having a tree branch hit my face. My wife Ann, being the kind person she is, held the branch just long enough to have it coil and smack me in the face as we paddled by. The result was some sort of poison ivy/ poison oak under my nose. That is the only place on my whole body that somehow, I got poison ivy! How weird? Somehow from one swat of a tree brach to my face in a passing canoe and I now resemble Joaquin Phoenix. I don't have a cleft lip like he does, but I do have this nasty-raised-poison ivy-like area which extends from the base of my nose to just above my lip. I look ugly. Not that Joaquin Phoenix is ugly... he is just the most famous person with a messed up lip. I'm sure if he had the ability to put IvyRest under his nose like I do, he would do it - but really, he looks fine. Just remember that as you prepare for the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest, keep those clever, wise words close at heart: "Leaves of three - leave them be". It could really save you a lot of grief.

The Pizza Hut Book It! program which encourages school aged children to read a set of particular books and rewards them with really small, personal pan pizzas may be interested in adding the 'Prelude to a Wifflefest' book to its approved material list. According to Wifflefest founder Justin Osborne, "The Pizza Hut Book It! program was something I really enjoyed growing up. I would read two or three books and then have my mom sign off that I read the required five books to get the free pizza. We would then go to Pizza Hut where I would get the little round deep dish pepperoni pizza and have it scald my mouth. I felt like I learned a lot." With the Book it! program being very popular among elementary school age children, Osborne feels that the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest has an opportunity to reach a younger generation. 'Prelude to a Wifflefest' is about wiffle ball and all of its glory. Wiffle ball in its original form, stripped of all the glitz and glamour which is Wifflest, is really a child's game. It's simple, creative, and made of plastic.... simply perfect for children. "With Wifflefest and the Book it! program, two great American past times can be put together. On one hand you have the kid friendly wiffle ball game, and on the other hand you have very small, scalding hot, deep dish personal pan pizza." "And if you had a third hand, you would have reading!" says Osborne. There has been no direct contact between the two entities, but sources who are privy to inside information say a deal is close.

Pujols moving to Cape - will live at Wifflefest

According to the local rumor mill, Albert Pujols, star slugger and all around good guy, may be moving to the Cape Girardeau area. It has not yet been confirmed nor denied that the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest may be playing a part in this decision. To further the speculation, Brian Blackwell, business writer for the Southest Missouri and 2008 Wifflefest participant recently blogged about such rumors. You may view his speculation by clicking the link above. There has also been no confirmation that Pujols, once arriving in the Cape area, would be living on the Martin Tree Farm wiffleball fields. Pujols Family Foundation holds annual golf tournament - Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest Not Mentioned

The Pujols Family Foundation which benefits children with Down Syndrome as well as children from the Dominican Republic held its annual charity golf tournament on Monday. The event was at the beautiful St. Albans golf course, and attracted many current and former St. Louis Cardinal players, as well as some local stars. Unfortunately, the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest failed to get a mention in the article, or even an invitation to the event. One star who attended, has personally interacted with me in the past. Amaury Nolasco, one of the stars from the television show "Prison Break" was at the PFF charity event. My close friends will remember that I did have a "Prison Break" tryout a few years ago, during the height of the show's popularity. Here is a pic with Amaury and myself running from prison, after we broke out.

I've always felt that Amaury and I not only shared a scene, but common beliefs. I am glad those feelings have come to fruition with his appearance at the PFF golf event. Who knows, this connection may one day lead him to Wifflefest!

Registration is now open for the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 2009. This Wifflefest will be held on Saturday, October 10th. As in past years you may register coed teams of five (or more) or as an individual by e-mailing your information to yellowbatwhiteball@hotmail.com
As in past years we will continue to not charge an entrance fee to our wonderful event. Instead, we encourage all participants to donate to the Pujols Family Foundation. We look to better our donation of around $900 from last year, with everyone's help.
Registration will end on October 1st, with all teams recieving event information shortly thereafter. From now until then, you should practice all of your wiffle skills in hopes that this year, your team will be named Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest champions.

I am proud to say that the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest has stepped up to the plate again and supported the Pujols Family Foundation. This year teams and individuals dug deep into their pockets and donated $823.62. All of this has been sent to the Pujols Family Foundation in an effort to help them help children with Down Syndrome. Thank you so much for all of your donations, and we pray that this money will be put to good use. Below is a copy of the letter sent to the foundation:

Dear Pujols Family Foundation,
On September 20, 2008, we held our third annual Justin Osborne All-American Wifflefest, which we are proud to say benefited the Pujols Family Foundation. This year we had eleven teams of five to seven players compete for the coveted prize of being named Wifflefest champions. The one day, double elimination, coed wiffleball tournament was a lot of fun and we were able to raise a little money and some awareness of what goes on with the foundation. Please accept our enclosed gifts.
We promise to pray for your work with the foundation and look forward to helping even more in the years to come…. As we all try to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Wifflefest 2008 Recap - 0 Days unitl Wifflefest

It was a wet and wild day at the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest where eleven teams competed for the cherished prize of becoming Wifflefest champions. Teams consisting of five to seven players competed on two specially designed fields: the Pond Field and the Forest Field. The Pond Field featured the traditional pond in center field as well as the famous announcing abilities of now Wifflefest Hall of Fame member Matt "the Voice" Hall. The Forest Field, built in the beautiful pine forest at the Martin Tree Farm, feature a fifteen foot high pine monster, which only yielded one home run over its barky reach all day long. Wifflefest also inducted two new members into the Justin Osborne All American Hall of Fame. Mike Oslund was inducted for his ability to hit a grand slam home run while talking on his cell phone. Matt "the Voice" Hall, was also inducted for his overall wonderful announcing and play by play ability. Both are welcomed additions to the Wifflefest HOF. In the end, as the rain cleared and the eye of the storm which had drenched our wiffleball field had passed, the Hurricanes emerged as the champions. Featuring the steady play of Amanda and Trent Forester (Silver Slugger Award 2007), the Hurricanes completed a sweep through Wifflefest and breezed to the title. Compiling a perfect (4-0) record, they launched many homeruns and pitched good enough to secure victories over all challengers they faced.

12 Teams to compete for Wifflefest crown - Seven day until Wifflefest

Twelve teams had registered by close of the day on Wednesday, Sept. 10, which was the final day to sign a team up. With this large and fierce group of competitors the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest, in its third year, will surely not disapoint. With a nice blend of new comers who are wet behind the wiffle ball ears and savvy veterans sure to take advantage of unskilled play, the Wifflefest crown will again be up for grabs. We hope to break down each team over the next few days, to give everyone a fair preview of the teams. Returning from last year are teams: Las Tortugas (0-2), Ann Justin for All (1-2) and Swing Hard Go Yard (3-2). All of these teams have made some adjustments to their roster, and hope to improve on last year's success/failure. New coming teams are: Hurricanes, Yeah Sure, Friends Yet Enemies, Wii Phila'Busters, Crazy Ninjas, River Rats, Ozzies, Wifflers and the Pythons. Most of the teams are blended with veterans and newcomers, so expect people to hit it and run.... which is not how we do things at Wifflefest. Teams will be recieving their starting game times and tournament bracket info over the next few days. It should be a great and wonderful time, and it is almost here.

I love the Farm - 14 days until Wifflefest

There is an old familiar saying when it comes to the real estate business, "Location, Location, Location". The saying is true of the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest as well. It is one of, if not the only reasons Wifflefest has been such a hit over the years. I am talking about the wonderful Martin Walnut Tree Farm. Over 300 acres of beauty, manicured to a park like atmosphere. It is without a doubt, one of the nicest places in all of Southeast Missouri. Nestled in the rolling hills between Gordonville and Cape Girardeau, the Martin Walnut Tree Farm has become famous for its trails, wiffle golf course, swings, and walnuts. The farm recently launched a website, http://www.martinwalnuttreefarm.com/, which allows them to have a web presence for their newly formed business of selling their walnuts. We at Wifflefest are thrilled that they not only allow us to play there each year, but continue to adapt the farm to our needs. This year, we will have a new field, built in the pine forest specifically for wiffle ball. The field, after the removable of over thirty tree, will be totally enclosed with pine trees and, rumor has it, will have a pine monster. We are so excited and thankful to all the people involved with the farm.... it is definitely the highlight of Wifflefest.

Belated Wifflefest - 20 day until WIfflefest

Being the creator of an amazing event like the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest, I get noticed quite a bit on the street while I am out and about town. The most common comment I get besides the usual "You are so awesome, thank you for being born", is "Wifflefest is a little late this year"? That is a very astute observation, and yes, Wifflefest is being held a little late this year. It has actually been 461 days since the last Wifflefest, much to long for our hearts to wait. This is due in fact to a couple of circumstances.

The first and most important circumstance: Osborne procreation. If you didn't know, we had a little girl born this summer. Her name is Ellie Osborne, and now is part of the planning committee at Wifflefest. She is two months old, loves smiling, slobbering and taking naps. Her goal for this year's Wifflefest is to stay awake for most of it and to still maintain the Baby Wise schedule. She is a good girl and welcome addition to the Wifflefest staff.

The second set of circumstance involves mother nature. It seems like most people don't enjoy 100 degree temperatures and high humidity. We decided to give everyone a break and wait until it was a little cooler outside. We are praying for a beautiful day to have Wifflefest. Much like the Osborne procreation, creation of a beautiful day for Wifflefest is in fact, God's choice. May He bless us with a great day and may He be blessed by our joy

Darrell Porter not confirmed - 26 days till Wifflefest

Darrell Porter, longtime St. Louis Cardinal and 1982 World Series MVP, has not been confirmed to be attending the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest. When asked if the catcher who wore glasses would be attending, Wifflefest founder Justin Osborne said "We haven't had any luck in contacting Mr. Porter, and honestly, we haven't even tried to do so." "Now that I think about it, Darrell was always my mom's favorite Cardinal. She said he had good looks." Regrettably, the only star power to be on display this year at Wifflefest, that is confirmed, will be the return of the Kyocera Hot Rollers, whose star slugger Roger Brown still holds his Wifflefest Hall of Fame status close to his heart. "The induction ceremony was really touching, and I received a really nice bronzed photo of myself" said Brown enthusiastically, "Although I had to give the frame back". Brown and Co. are sure to be a force come tourney time.

Corporately Sponsored - 30 days until Wifflefest

This is serious. What was once a backyard game and a dream has now become an event that is officially "corporately sponsored". Osborne Office Equipment of Cape Girardeau, MO has stepped up to the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest plate financially. The sponsoring will allow more publicity in the form of signage, newspaper, web, and radio ads, as well as a better overall Wifflefest experience. "This is unbelievable", says Wifflefest founder and designer Justin Osborne. "I am so proud of the place that I work. That they would not only donate company time to allow co-workers the chance to help set up at Wifflefest, but also to donate monetarily". Wifflefest will again this year be donating to the Albert Pujols Family Foundation, and Osborne Office Equipment is squarely behind that cause. Osborne Office Equipment is a self described "faithful-family" business that is in its 35th year. They specialize in network copiers, printers, scanners and fax equipment and service the greater southeast Missouri and southern Illinois area.

What is your dream? - 31 days until Wifflfest

Tonight, when you are lying in bed and staring at the ceiling because you can't fall asleep, I want you to dream with me. Dream with me a little dream, a dream that we all have had at some point in our tiny lives. A little dream of being somebody.
As you close your eyes tonight there will be a little boy who goes to sleep with a glove on his hand. A glove that symbolizes the dream we all carry deep inside. Maybe, just maybe, if we didn't know about the money the average ballplayer makes these days. Perhaps, if we didn't really know the rules of play or what makes a ball foul or fair. If we had no method of keeping score or calculating a batting average.... and were left with enjoyment and a dream. A dream that once we were good at playing ball. A dream that if we worked hard enough and long enough, we could still be good. A dream in which your theme song and plate approach were perfectly choreographed. A dream in which a plastic perferated white ball floated in front of your face, opened its mouth, smiled, and said "Hit me!". A dream that if fate would be kind to us, we could win the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest, and thus, be somebody. Good night little wiffle ballers. Sweet dreams and remember, the glove goes on the hand you don't throw with.

A new champion will be crowned - 35 days unitl Wifflefest

This year's Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest title is up for grabs as we have received word that Sean's Sluggers will not be making an appearance. After compiling a 7-1 record last year at Wifflefest and claiming the coveted Wifflefest trophy, they have decided not to defend their crown. Although Sean was not available for comment, other sources confirm that former member Drew Burgess will be getting married the same day as Wifflefest.
If you are up on your Wifflefest history, you may recall the fact that Drew hit the second ever home run at Wifflefest. Let's hope that Drew bring the same intensity and consistent play to the marriage as he does to the wiffle ball field. As for Sean's Sluggers future, it seems to be uncertain. Last year's off season acquisitions Trent and Amanda Forester paid big dividends, in the form of a Wifflefest championship, but rumors are circulating that turmoil has struck the champ's camp. I spoke with Forrester over the summer and was told directly by him, that he was "forming his own team". Wow! It is hard to blame Forester though. After batting .711 for the tournament, scoring a record 16 runs, and pounding 8 home runs, many wonder if "he could win Wifflefest by himself"? We may never know the answer to that question, but you can count on the fact that Trent is getting heavy consideration for being voted Silver Slugger 2007. There is no telling how far he can carry his new team... and no telling how sad it will be without Sean's Sluggers winning this year.

Let's be honest. Forty one days is a long time to do anything, and it is especially hard when you are waiting for something as amazing as the Justin Osborne All-American Wifflefest. It may be a little premature to start the countdown. I am told only truly strong people will be able to last that long, and read that many entries on a blog about wiffleball. There is a reason Christ was in the wilderness for forty days.... and that reason may or may not correlate to the height and depth of wiffleball enthusiam. I would like to stoke the wiffle-fire that burns in your heart.

The Justin Osborne All-American Wifflefest will be held on September 20th. It will contain all of its goodness that the first two years of Wifflefest have contained, and then some. We are still planning on having the announcing crew, homemade fields, food, and lots of fun. Feel free to invite any and all, as it should be a great time.

There are some new things that we are really excited about for Wifflefest. The biggest addition may be the first ever Wiffle Run for Fun - a run through the Martin Tree Farm trail system. We are deliberatly trying to have people experience more of the Tree Farm. It is sunch a beautiful place, and there is so much to do besides Wiffleball. The run will be short in nature, less than a 5K for sure. So, lace them up and be sure to show at 10:00 a.m.

I for one am excited about the Wiffle Run for Fun as I have never actually ran in an event before. Some may suggest that I have never really ran before. If one watches closely it seems as though I quickly loaf from point to point, with a slight hop involved somehow. It isn't the prettiest thing to watch, and doesn't lend itself to speed over long distances. We shall see how this unfolds. That is what the countdown is all about. Preparing our minds, bodies, and hearts for whatever may happen at Wifflefest.

Wifflefest supports the Pujols Family Foundation

As many of you know, this year the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest had a little extra meaning besides the usual famous competition. Teams and individuals were encouraged to make a monetary donation to the Pujols Family Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness for children who have down syndrome. I am proud to say that collectively Wifflefest raised $325.00 for the foundation. I am also proud to say that I have been contacted by many people who planned on donating on their own, which will add to the total. The donations are currently on their way to the Pujols Family Foundation offices, along with some Wifflefest t-shirts, and the SEMissourian article.

I want to thank all of the Wifflefest participants who were able to donate to this great cause. I encourage any and all of you to considered continual giving and prayer for this great cause throughout the year. May our Lord Jesus Christ be honored by your actions and loving heart.

Wifflefest Recap

What a wonderful day it was at the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest. The temperature was hot, the action even hotter as ten teams competed for a chance to be named Wifflefest Champions. After an early, one-run defeat, Sean's Sluggers fought all the way back through the loser's bracket to claim the championship, winning their final six games of the tournament. The Sluggers were powered by the incredible hitting of Trent Forester, who smashed eight home runs.... demolishing all previous Wifflefest home run records. Congratulations on a hard earned championship.... it was well deserved.

Stats, pictures, stories and final team results will be posted within the week.... so please check back often.

I want to thank you so much for making Wifflefest a wonderful success. Wifflefest is not about one person, a one day event, or if you win or lose. Wifflefest is about the people. People who are willing to drive one, two, three hours to hang out and play wiffleball. People you meet for the first time, or you have known for a lifetime. People who you would drop anything for in a heartbeat.... People you love from the bottom of your heart. I trust and pray that you had a fun time and you will already being making plans to join us next year.
